I have asked our friends in the Pike and San Isabel national forests - who get to drive around the woods while we are stuck at our desks during this lovely mid-September warm spell - to give us updates on the fall foliage.
Dianna Barney at theĀ South Park Ranger District reports today the leaves are 4o to 50 percent changed along Boreas Pass near Breckenridge. “Beautiful yellows along this route especially with the sunshine. It’s pure golden heaven,” she writes. The Buffalo Peaks area is 30 percent changed, she said, but other areas don’t have much color to speak of.
Other ranger districts reported in, and there isn’t much change yet.
